Wouldn't a Serial to USB adapter, or a serial pci card work?

most of USB to Gameport adapters (rockfire, superjoy7) specificly exercise not support the Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro, so a custom converter is needed.
Windows Vista and 7 both have serious problems detecting a gameport carte.
IE i tried to become my sidewinder working with a Eleven-Fi Pro Fata1ity soundcard with the gameport/midi adapter plugged in, and it just simply would not detect annihilation plugged in at all. Right drivers, windows only sucks.
Same stick, custom converter, works like plug and play, dont even need to install drivers.

Microsoft Makes them and has drivers for information technology. (Wait at the grit, Havn't used information technology OR my joystick since mw4).
(EDIT) Information technology is printed on the piece (information technology came with my joystick BTW) Microsoft sidwinder devices only made in mainland china 98427. I assume 98427 is the cerial number?
(EDIT two) 98427 is the part number, y'all can buy the USB online, I saw it going for about $20ish.

Heya Twisted.
I take seen that converter earlier, i did a massive mission before deciding to build the converter i had as i'd determined it was theo nly way to become it to work.
Hither's why that converter is a nogo for me
http://world wide web.ebay.com/...=item2ea4e34df6
Look at the supported/not supported list, the part number for the 3D Pro i have is 63545.
Can you confirm the sidewinder you've got, and works with that converter is the 3D Pro - the one in the picture at the bottom in my beginning postal service? Im thinking you may have a different model, similar this one?
I'm fairly certain it needed its own converter equally the 3D pro is an odd mix of analog and digital sensors/components, then its not realy a "standard" stick?

It should be the same as first postal service, is this it?
I utilise a vitural joystick driver for all my devices. (I have like a n64 controller to usb and stuff) Information technology seem like it is only a commuter problem and you're device setup fixes it? It does look realy good though the mode you did information technology. But y'all may just exist able to apply a joystick emulation program that reads the information. If I don't employ it mine, not all the buttons on my controller works. I'k running windows seven 64bit. You should exist able to employ Vjoy or PPjoy (PPjoy requires vista/seven Pro or Higher. Non the dwelling house versions or you lot can't do it. I call back somthing to exercise with irresolute permisions for singed drivers or somthing.

Ahhh, ok. Weird they seem hard to find (Like the ebay ane, there merely was one listed like that type and information technology said no-go to the 3d pro)
Reckon you'd be able to find/dig up a link for a place that sells those converters so i tin put it in my origonal mail as another option and so?

Well they are no longer in production, the only affair I could tell you to do is take them search for "microsoft 98427 USB". Then they tin can buy a used one. They are going to be hard to find, so if they can't, then they can just use your setup :-)

*edit, nevermind, merely read the whole post...
why not just get the OEM Gameport to USB adapter?
that'due south what I use (the piffling teal cable with the DB-15 to USB affair on it)
works cracking.
that reminds me... I should probably tape mine up and so information technology doesn't ever disappear...

That ergonomic stick is the Precision Pro, which has a unlike pivot out than the 3D pro. The affair is that for less than the price of this adapter you could accept a Cyborg V.1 stick. No throttle, just all I want is a lefty stick for movement so YMMV. Anyone take one of these?
But yeah, you aren't kidding about these sticks being durable.

Has anyone tried the MS Sidewinder 3D Pro with the "98427" USB adapter? Are custom drivers needed?
Thank you.

Hi, I have a 3D Pro with i of the USB adaptor boards detailed in the first mail service. I haven't plugged it in for a couple of years but information technology worked fine when last used.
I also accept two Precision Pro's. The USB adaptor that comes with with them is picayune more than wires from what I remember, the bodily gizmo to switch betwixt usb/gameport output is built into the Precision Pro, and and then you cannot (I've tried) use these adaptors with the 3D Pro.

Give thanks you. From what I'1000 reading, it looks like I volition have to pick upward a Precision Pro [with USB adapter] -- if I desire to stay with Microsoft; or I may have to effort the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.
RIP Sidewinder 3D Pro.

I accept several MS sidewinder joysticks and with my usb version i want to play like a flight simulator with pulling back on the stick to move cantankerous hairs up and push button forrad to move crosshairs downward.
checking the capsize Y axis does nothing, is there some other style to practice this???
